Granulation tissue after otologic surgeries: a cross-sectional report on the incidence and management

Abstract Background Granulation tissue (GT) formation is a complication of otologic surgeries. We aimed to assess the rate GT following these procedures and their outcome. Methods This cross-sectional study was performed from 2015 2019. Patients who underwent tympanomastoidectomy (either CWD or ICW) stapedotomy were included. Demographic other related data gathered. Four weeks after surgery, patients assessed for any sign granulation formation. If present, they managed topically followed every 2 months until complete resolution. Results Of 1045 included cases, 200 Canal Wall Down (CWD) mastoidectomy, 568 Intact (ICW) 277 experienced stapedotomy. 180 participants diagnosed with (17.22%). The incidence 23.44% 0%, respectively. measure 43% 16.5% CWD, ICW approaches. Following treatment months, we found 164 (91.1%) resolution at second visit. remaining 16 10 6 cured third fourth visits. Males developed significantly more ( p < 0.001). Conclusion Those mastoidectomy are likely develop than It has favorable response conservative topical management.
